Sandstone and stonework
Woolton is known for its sandstone, and you can see it in garden walls, steps, paths and patios. Stone like that is handsome, but it holds on to moisture and shade, and algae and grime settle into it.
Older stone can also be softer than modern paving, so the method matters. We choose the approach to suit each surface: jet washing for hard, durable paving, and a gentler low-pressure softwash where a surface is delicate. Moss and algae on stone are partly cosmetic and partly practical. Steps and paths that stay green can become slippery when wet, so cleaning them back improves the look and the footing.
